  • July 5, 2018 (New York, New York) – Daytime EMMY® Award-nominated television host of The Wendy Williams Show, New York Times best-selling author and philanthropist Wendy Williams, along with her family-founded charitable organization The Hunter Foundation, in partnership with Facing Addiction with NCADD will present the inaugural “Wendy Williams Hunter Birthday Give Back Gala” at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on July 18, 2018. Funds raised at the gala will benefit victims of drug addiction and substance abuse.

“I wanted to use the biggest day of the year (my birthday) to encourage family and friends to give to this cause which will in turn help those in need. Instead of giving me gifts, I am encouraging everyone to donate,” says Wendy Williams Hunter.

She adds, “I have seen addiction up-close. As a mother, wife, daughter and friend, I cannot stand by and do nothing while there are people struggling to overcome substance abuse. Life is too short and we need to come together to help others.”

  • The fundraising benefit will be hosted by actress, producer and television personality Torrei Hart and will feature performances by GRAMMY® Award-nominated and Soul Train® Music Award-winning R&B singer-songwriter Johnny Gill, GRAMMY® Award-nominated and Soul Train® Music Award-winning R&B singer-songwriter Keri Hilson and R&B artist PM.
  • Ten-time GRAMMY® Award-winning R&B legend Chaka Khan will be honored with “The Survivor Award” for her resilience in overcoming drug addiction and alcoholism, and through her work with her namesake organization The Chaka Khan Foundation, she has aimed to educate, inspire and empower at-risk children in the community to achieve their full potential.

Contributing partners for the inaugural Gala include Debmar-Mercury, Urban Movie Channel, Viacom and Cookie Pop.
