Youth Development

Our Youth Development programs focus on helping organizations that work with children in the following categories.

We provided contributions to organizations that provide safe spaces and recreational programs, and advocacy and legal services specifically tailored toward LGBTQ youth and/or homeless youth.

Summer Camperships

Girls ages 10-16 are fully sponsored to attend a 13-day residential camp at YMCA Camp Mason located in Hardwick, New Jersey. The girls were nominated by organizations serving families who would not otherwise have the means to send their daughters to camp. The girls experience the great outdoors through a variety of activities including horseback riding lessons, swim lessons, kayaking, fishing, pond study, hikes, outdoor sports, arts & crafts, painting, archery, and much more.  Round trip transportation was provided and the girls each received a backpack full of camp supplies, toiletries, clothing, and a stipend to spend at the camp store (to purchase a Camp Mason T-shirt, sweatshirt, or additional supplies).

Team Wendy Girls Health & Wellness

During the school year, it is easy for children to get distracted from staying healthy and eating right.  With the pressures of school and growing up, many children who do not participate in sports, need to find other ways to stay fit.  The goal of the GIRLS Health & Wellness program is to combine motivational speaking with health and fitness activities.  During this 12-week program girls are introduced to healthy living so they may develop good habits at a young age.

Girl Talk in STEM

Girl Talk in STEM is designed to bring together professional women who have excelled in their careers and pair them with girls who are a part of one or more of the Hunter Foundation programs.

This year we will host a STEM workshop using the outdoor environment at summer camp. Girls will participate in outdoor activities and environmental studies with women who have careers in science and engineering.
