These programs focus on helping organizations that work with children in the following categories.
In June 2014, the Hunter Foundation inaugurated its first program and sponsored three (3) girls to attend a 13-day residential camp at YMCA Camp Mason located in Hardwick, New Jersey. The girls were nominated by organizations serving families who would not otherwise have the means to send their daughters to camp. This year, Wendy Williams and the Hunter Foundation conducted a Crowdrise fundraiser, matched the funds, and raised enough to send 13 girls to camp.
The girls attended the camp – free of charge – and were able to experience the great outdoors through a variety of activities including horseback riding lessons, swim lessons, kayaking, fishing, pond study, hikes, outdoor sports, arts & crafts, painting, archery, and much more. Round trip transportation was provided and the girls each received a backpack full of camp supplies, toiletries, clothing, and a stipend to spend at the camp store (to purchase a Camp Mason T-shirt, sweatshirt, or additional supplies).
Girl Talk With Team Wendy
Soon to debut in the Fall of 2015, Girl Talk With Team Wendy is designed to bring together professional women who have excelled in their careers and pair them with girls who are a part of one or more of the Hunter Foundation community-based organization partnerships (i.e. Summer Camperships, Food Banks, etc.)
The program will assist the girls in building a relationship with each mentor that will allow for a free dialogue and inside look at each mentor’s profession, so that the mentee can receive guidance, direction, and personal and career development.
