The Hunter Foundation Spearheads Holiday Initiatives for another Year of Giving Back
For the third year in a row, The Hunter Foundation, along with its founders, Wendy Williams-Hunter and her husband Kevin Hunter, are giving back to local communities in New York and New Jersey, with a goal to feed more than 2,000 people throughout the holiday season, while raising awareness on issues of hunger and food insecurity.
The Hunter Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization, founded to support community-based organizations and programs that serve adults, children and families. The Hunters work toward creating partnerships and support programs that impact the cycle of drug addiction, poverty and bias.
The foundation is continuing its annual tradition of providing holiday meals for homeless families and families in great need, living around the tristate area. This year, the Hunters kicked off the giving season by hosting a holiday dinner at Bowlmor Times Square, where the Hunters served food to hundreds of children and families in need. Families were referred by several partners including Central Brooklyn Community Development Corp., The City of Orange, New Jersey, Boys & Girls Club of Harlem, New York Housing Authority, The Toles Foundation, Encouragement & Enrichment Services, Women In Need and Part of the Solutions Bronx.
Furthermore, the foundation expanded its efforts by partnering with City Harvest and the organization’s “mobile markets” around New York City, where fresh produce and food is distributed to the community. Wendy and the Foundation will support these outdoor farmer’s markets in December by distributing toys and assisting with food distribution and cooking demos using the food items handed out at select markets.
“It’s important to give back during the holiday season, especially to the hungry and those suffering from food insecurity,” said Wendy Williams on behalf of The Hunter Foundation. “Through setting up holiday dinners and working with various partners, The Hunter Foundation is so grateful to be expanding our efforts year after year, and helping families in need to ensure they all have a wonderful holiday with their loved ones.”
Additionally, The Hunter Foundation will be participating in the Newman’s Own Foundation $500,000 Holiday Challenge. Through this campaign, which is enabled by CrowdRise, The Hunter Foundation is encouraging donations now through January 3rd, for a chance to win $150,000 to support their ongoing efforts.
