Team Wendy Girls Health & Wellness
During the school year, it is easy for children to get distracted from staying healthy and eating right. With the pressures of school and growing up, many children who do not participate in sports, need to find other ways to stay fit. The goal of the Team Wendy Girls Health & Wellness program is to combine motivational speaking, mentoring, and community service projects, with health and fitness programming for teens age 10-17. During this 12-week program girls are introduced to healthy living so they may develop good habits at a young age. The program has several components including energetic and fun cardiovascular exercises, healthy eating and wellness challenges, workshops, educational field trips, community service projects and weekly motivational speakers. Additional components to this program are career exploration workshops, etiquette training, the wide variety of healthy eating choices, positive youth development workshops and “clean eating” preparation. At the conclusion of each session, Zumba and dance is matched with chart-topping pop music hits, which make the classes fun.
